Civic Action Planning Institutes

July 27, 2016

Campus Compact is pleased to announce  three fall Civic Action Planning Institutes, created for member campuses, and organized throughout the country to provide planning teams with inspiration, information, and time to share resources and ideas for leveraging existing campus infrastructure for engagement and for boldly exploring new areas and opportunities for impact.

Are you ready to get to work and join the 400+ colleges and universities that have signed Campus Compact’s 30th Anniversary Action Statement and made commitments to develop campus civic action plans in the year ahead?

The agenda will include:Action Plan Cover

  • overview of principles and goals of the 30th Anniversary Action Statement
  • introduction to campus civic action planning processes
  • exploration of key planning concepts:
    • asset orientation
    • meaning of community engagement
    • capacity building
    • systems and policy change
    • culture change
    • integration of teaching, research and institutional action
    • maximizing student and community impact

Sessions will include large group discussion as well as team planning time.

Campus Compact member institutions whose president or chancellor has signed the Campus Compact 30th Anniversary Action Statement are eligible to attend (it’s never too late to sign !). We are seeking three-person teams that include at least one senior academic administrator and one faculty member or administrator directly responsible for civic engagement and learning.
