Member Spotlight: Goodwin College’s Dental Hygiene Program Gives Kids a Smile

Four students from Connecticut Campus Compact member institutions have been named 2016 Newman Civic Fellows. The Fellows were all nominated by the presidents of their college or university, and their selection as 2016 Newman Civic Fellows was announced by national Campus Compact on March 30.  This year’s class honors a record 218 community-engaged students hailing from 36 states,Washington DC, and Mexico. These student leaders represent the next generation of civic leaders. Through service, research, and advocacy, these Fellows are making the most of their college experiences to better understand themselves, the root causes of social issues, and effective mechanisms for creating lasting change….

CT Campus Compact Launches College Positive Volunteerism Curriculum at Eastern Connecticut State University On January 29th our Campus Compact VISTAs Carly Zerr and Emily Sawicki led a College Positive Volunteerism training at Eastern Connecticut State University’s Center for Community Engagement for their student leaders who help facilitate various after-school mentoring and tutoring programs throughout the Windham Public School District. The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) at Eastern Connecticut State University focuses on after-school mentoring and tutoring programs that include a variety of activities, from dancing and other cultural activities to academic tutoring.
